If you're unsure, 300 DPI is the safe choice for almost all print jobs. Print shops, online photo services, and design software all expect 300 DPI as the default for high-quality output.
600 DPI is used when you need maximum sharpness — fine art reproduction, detailed architectural drawings, scientific illustrations, or any print where viewers will examine the image closely. Select the 600 DPI preset button or type 600 in the custom field. The tool embeds 600 DPI metadata into your JPEG, and the print size calculator shows you the physical dimensions at that resolution.
Keep in mind that 600 DPI means more dots per inch, so your image prints physically smaller. A 3000 × 2000 pixel image prints at 5" × 3.3" at 600 DPI, compared to 10" × 6.7" at 300 DPI. If you need a larger print at 600 DPI, you'll need a higher-resolution source image. You can check your image dimensions with the image resizer tool.
